Spike Spiegel , a bounty hunter, and his partner Jet Black head to the Tijuana asteroid colony on their ship, the Bebop , to track down a bounty-head named Asimov Solensan. Asimov is wanted for killing members of his own crime syndicate and stealing a cache of a dangerous combat drug known as Bloody-Eye. On the colony, Asimov and his girlfriend, Katerina, are ambushed at a bar by his former syndicate while attempting to sell a vial of Bloody-Eye, but Asimov fights his way out by using the drug himself.

Spike later encounters Katerina and reveals to her that he is a bounty hunter searching for Asimov; Spike is assaulted by Asimov and nearly killed before Katerina intervenes. In the confusion, Spike steals Asimov's Bloody-Eye vial before the two leave.

Spike later confronts Asimov at a staged drug deal with the stolen vial. Asimov escapes with Katerina in a ship when the two are interrupted by an attack from Asimov's former syndicate. With Spike giving chase in his own ship, Asimov takes another dose of Bloody-Eye as they rush towards a police blockade. A horrified Katerina, realizing they will never escape, shoots Asimov as Spike nears their ship. As Spike approaches Asimov's ship, it is destroyed by attacking police cruisers, forcing Spike to pull away.

The episode ends with Spike and Jet once again traveling through space on the Bebop. Michiko Yokote.

Spike and Jet's next bounty takes them to Mars, where their target, Abdul Hakim, is wanted for stealing a valuable lab animal. To avoid capture, Hakim has had plastic surgery to change his appearance. At a bar, Hakim's briefcase containing the animal is stolen. Spike discovers the thief attempting to sell the animal at a pet store and, assuming him to be Hakim, holds him at gunpoint. Spike orders the store owner to open the case, revealing a Welsh corgi.

History of the American Cowboy

As Spike leaves the store, Hakim attempts to take the dog back; the dog escapes, prompting Hakim, Spike, and the group of scientists who had illegally experimented on the dog to give chase. Spike loses Hakim but gains possession of the dog, whom he brings back to the Bebop. Jet gives the dog a collar tracking device so he can pinpoint Hakim's location once he inevitably steals the dog back.

Spike takes the dog for a walk in order to flush out Hakim. Hakim consults a fortune teller. The scientists activate a dog whistle to find their "data dog", resulting in the corgi escaping from Spike. All the city dogs including the corgi run past Hakim and the fortune teller. Hakim steals a car and grabs the dog, while Spike and the scientists pursue him in their ship and truck, respectively.

The dog manipulates the car door and jumps out. Spike reluctantly saves it by having it land on top of his ship. The scientists use the truck's harpoon to attach to Hakim's vehicle. This causes both vehicles to lose control and crash over the side rails of a bridge. They fall onto a police station and are apprehended. The bounty hunter show "Big Shots" announces that Hakim turned himself in and reveal that a "data dog" is a dog that has its intellect genetically enhanced.

The dog, named Ein, now lives on the Bebop , much to Spike's chagrin. With Ein as a new companion, the crew of the Bebop cross paths with Faye Valentine , a wanted fugitive drowning in debt, who is forced to act as a middle-woman for an illegal transaction at a space station casino. When Nicholas D. Wolfwood asks for Vash's real name, Vash answers, "Just between you and me, my name is irrelevant".

Later in the story Vash "puts down his gun", hoping to leave his bounty hunter life and start over. He then goes by the name Kanan or Erics, in the English version. Wolfwood starts to look for Vash, and finds him in a town full of criminal gangs in which their leader calls himself Vash The Stampede, and picks off the beginning of Trigun Maximum.

Vash habitually carries a custom made. In the series, Knives creates a pair of revolvers, the silver one for Vash and a black-oxidized one for himself. Vash wounds Knives and takes his gun, carrying both for a time until Knives shoots his arm off and retrieves the black one. In the manga, Vash uses his unique gun more out of mere novelty and habit. Beside his revolver, Vash has a cybernetic arm fitted with a hidden gun.

It is initially a powerful semiautomatic pistol that is later upgraded to a fully automatic submachine gun. In the series, the brothers' revolvers hold the catalyst needed to activate their "Angel Arms. Upon activation, his right arm transforms into a weapon powerful enough to destroy entire cities with a single blast.

Vash fears the Angel Arm's potential for destruction, and knows little about how to use it. In the manga, the Angel Arm is a natural feature of a plant's body, and can be manipulated into various shapes to create a number of effects beyond destruction.

His power using the Angel Arm is limited: like a battery , it contains only a certain amount of energy, and when that energy is gone he will die. Vash's Angel Arm typically takes the shape of a large cannon weapon, which uses a tremendous amount of power. In the series, Vash can be seen using a knife hidden in his boot in multiple episodes. During his battle with Brilliant Dynamites Neon, he uses an automatic weapon that appears similar to an AK carbine.

In the climactic final battle with Knives, he also uses Wolfwood's Cross Punisher. Aside from his Angel Arm, Vash has shown a superhuman level of agility , strength , reflexes , eyesight and complete muscle control. In episodes of the anime, Vash has often shown the ability to dodge bullets at close range and dodge skilled melee attacks at one point doing so while at the same time pretending to dance with a woman. During a gun duel competition, Vash was able to prevent the deaths of many of the competitors by throwing rocks at key moments to knock bullets off their lethal courses.

Finally, his intelligence is stated to be superior to that of most humans. The popularity of the manga and anime skyrocketed Vash to being a merchandise, wherein action figures, [4] plush dolls, [5] keychains, [6] clothes, [7] and even his trademark cosplay sunglasses were made. The lead singer of Mushroomhead wore a Vash the Stampede coat in many concerts before it was stolen from his dressing room.

It was unveiled in in Sega's GameJam video. The unveiling consisted of a second clip from the game. No news or comment came back after. As a character design, though, he's one of the all-time greats. He has super speed, perfect accuracy, and the will to do anything for anyone no matter if they are good or evil, even if it costs him his body or his dignity.
