It took me a while to read this because of other stuff going on. This was pretty good. I think the name is hugely misleading. That's not what this book is about at all. It's nothing that exciting. Beau Garrett is a talk show host who is recuperating in the boonies after a life threatening accident.
He hires female landscaper, Jaz Logan, who is living under the shadow of her mother running off with someone else's husband. They strike up an uneasy friendship that turns into love. Beau is a bit of a It took me a while to read this because of other stuff going on. Beau is a bit of a misanthrope. Jaded and sophisticated, and fairly grumpy. Jaz is highly stressed with all the burdens she's had to carry her life, dealing a shame forced on her just because she is the daughter of her mother. They find an unlikely connection that isn't just physical. Beau knows he's too old for her, and Jaz feels that she's not sophisticated enough for Beau.
But there seems to be something that continue pulls them together. I didn't think this was terribly exciting.
It was okay. Not bad, but not particularly distinctive. Books like this make you wonder how the writer felt when they were writing it. If I'm not excited as a reader, are they while they are writing it. Being creative is hard and lonely work.

You need to feel a drive to finish that work. If the results turn out blah, doesn't the author feel that when they are in the midst of its creation? I digress. So, yes this is just a three star read from me.

It kept my interest, but not in a spectacular way. It was a good read before bedtime. Aug 19, RLA rated it liked it. The hero Beau has moved to a quiet village in order to escape from the pressures of city life after a car accident left him mentally and physically scarred. Only he soon finds out that village life is not as quiet as it seems, with nosey neighbours and gossip.
He hires the heroine Jaz to landscape his garden and as they get to know one another they recognise each others loneliness. Jaz has lived in the village all her life and tries to escape the scorn that her mother's adultery created. However The hero Beau has moved to a quiet village in order to escape from the pressures of city life after a car accident left him mentally and physically scarred. However when news of her growing friendship with Beau circulates Jaz starts receiving anonymous and malicious notes.
She tries to ignore them but they begin to get to her and frighten her. Despite his attempts, Beau can't get Jaz to open up about her past, her fears or her growing feelings towards her. I have to admit that I am very confused about this book. It's certainly not a book that I liked, but not one I didn't like either.
It's just OK. The plot doesn't really match up to the title, blurb or general 'revenge' theme, which I found a little frustrating.
An Affair of Vengeance by Jamie Michele | | THE BIG THRILL
I did like the development of the relationship between the hero and heroine, this feels very natural and believable. The heroine is written with a feisty and independent spirit that really helps balance her vulnerability. I liked the hero too, but there wasn't enough of him to really get his character across. To me this is not suited to the Modern line.

An OK read. View all 5 comments. Sep 23, Widala rated it liked it. I could give it more star if only Jaz didn't act the way she did about her past and the letters. A bit silly I think to kept such not so secret past from Beau because of what?
BOOK REVIEW: AN AFFAIR OF VENGEANCE
The whole village knew, he will find out sooner or later. And those letters, they really disturbed her but adamant to not take them seriously and that stressed her even more. But I like Beau, despite his cynicism and jaded view of the world. It's cute how he installed himself into Jaz's world, with all that mocking laughs a I could give it more star if only Jaz didn't act the way she did about her past and the letters. It's cute how he installed himself into Jaz's world, with all that mocking laughs and derisive comments when the truth is he's falling in love with her.
Dec 26, Anuradha rated it really liked it. A good one, really. Just a hopelessly mismatched title. The guy is a TV celebrity with a tragedy behind him. Has shifted to the rural country side to lick his wounds in oblivion. But the village is a hot bed of gossip which he didn't anticipate!

The problem with this approach is that the c ourt is not likely to put much emphasis on the affair and Ms. Jones may very well be disappointed at the outcome. However, fault is only one of about 15 to 20 different factors that the courts take into account.
This would be significantly less costly than if the husband and girlfriend were deposed and all the gory details brought to light in the courtroom. One of my favorite techniques when working with a client that I suspect wants vengeance or retribution is to go through a question and answer scenario like set forth above.
Then, at the end, I add these questions:. In summary, the legal system is very effective at meeting out vengeance and retribution. If you feel that you have a need for vengeance or retribution, you may be better off if you work the issues out with a therapist, rather than trying to address them with your attorney. John K. Grubb practices family law in Houston. Grubb focuses a significant part of his family law practice on helping couples create premarital and prenuptial agreements in Texas.
Who ever wrote this article has obviously not spent much time in a court room. The courts do not care about fairness what-so-ever. They care about which party spends the most money on attorney fees.
