The Friendly Ghost , the first Noveltoon to feature Casper, was released by Paramount in with a few differences from the book. In the cartoon adaptation, Casper is a cute ghost-child with a New York accent, who prefers making friends with people instead of scaring them Casper used to scare people but got tired of it all.
He runs away from home and goes out to make friends. However, the animals he meets a rooster, a mole, a cat, a Herman , and a group of hens take one horrified look at him and run off in the other direction. Distraught, Casper unsuccessfully attempts to commit suicide by laying himself down on a railway track before an oncoming train apparently forgetting that he's already dead before he meets two little children named Bonnie and Johnny who become his friends.
The children's mother at first is frightened of Casper, but later welcomes him into the family and sends him off with her children to town wearing clothes after he wards off a greedy landlord. There's Good Boos To-Night differs wildly from later Casper cartoons: although Casper trying to find a friend and scaring everyone away before succeeding also occurs in later cartoons, the tone of the cartoon turns dark when a hunter and his dogs appear. Although Casper scares them away, the fox he has befriended is killed, but happily returns as a ghost. These were later adapted into Noveltoons before Paramount started a Casper the Friendly Ghost series in , and ran the theatrical releases until the summer of Nearly every entry in the series was the same: Casper now slightly thinner than his obese self that first appeared in the earlier cartoons escapes from the afterlife of a regular ghost because he finds that scaring people can be tiresome year after year, tries to find friends but inadvertently scares almost everyone, and finally finds a cute little friend, whom he saves from some sort of fate, leading to his acceptance by those initially scared of him.
The cartoon series also boasted a catchy title song which was written by Jerry Livingston and Mack David. By , however, composer Winston Sharples composed an entirely new instrumental theme for Casper's cartoons. Casper went on to become one of the most famous properties from the Famous Studio. Casper was first published in comics form in by St. John Publications ; Alfred Harvey , founder and publisher of Harvey Comics began producing Casper comic books in , and in , Harvey purchased the rights to the character outright.
After Harvey bought the rights to Casper and many other Famous properties in including Herman and Katnip , Little Audrey , and Baby Huey , they began broadcasting the post-September theatrical Famous shorts on a television show sponsored by Mattel Toys titled Matty's Funday Funnies on ABC in which introduced the Barbie doll to the public.

May 14, Montzalee Wittmann rated it it was amazing. She still has Frankie the mob ghost hanging out helping her, reluctantly at times. Now she has experienced more ghosts and I about speed myself laughing at her when she meets her in the haunted house last book, well she is beasties with her now!
Someone is trying to kill her and the sheriff, and the old lady that owns the haunted house. Great mystery, great humor, and love the ghost factor!

I adore this narrator! I think you are the cat's s meow! Or skunks Terrific job!!! This is like literally me, just instead of the newspapers imagine an e-book reader and instead of Charlotte, imagine me jumping up and down, flailing in glee as I'm finishing The Skeleton in the Closet.
I'm sensing a theme here. In this newest sequel to The Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries series, we follow Verity as she tries to solve a murder and simultaneously expose a century-and-a-half long cover up, confronts her past, makes new friends and more than once almost joins her ghost friends on the other side. You know, the every day routine of a twenty-something woman. As with the prequel, the story was fast paced and easy to follow, filled with unexpected, funny gems that made me laugh out loud a lot of times.
The mystery was not quite mysterious, as I suspected who might be the killer right away, but it was still fun to read how it all resolved. Unlike the prequel, we get to see more of the blooming romance between Ellis and Verity as they're experiencing it and it doesn't deflect the focus of the story from the mystery, but rather takes a backseat and sort of develops on the go. And it's so much sweeter like this. He's just crazy fun to read about and I love him to pieces. The fans will be glad to know that The Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries series has three more books to come and I can't wait to see what Angie Fox has planned for Verity and Frankie the next time.

It's still written with a light, deft touch but the emphasis is definitely on solving a mystery. Verity sees ghosts and actually has one living with her!

Add in a ex cheating fiance with a deputy hunk for a brother and its safe to say that Veritys life is anything but dull. Its the town's annual re enactment of the event that saw a cannon ball getting embedded in the library wall. This year a documentary is being filmed and the whole town is twittering. Then the unthinkable happens and Verity discovers a dead body in the library.
Unfortunately though there are those who happily point the finger at her but Ellis has her back and together they set out to discover just what the murderer is trying to hide I confess I haven't read the first book in this series but I had no trouble understanding the plot. There is little love lost between Verity and her ex fiance and almost mother in law which gave the author chance to allow many snide comments to be passed back and forth. Add in an allergy to rhubarb and the scene is set for amazing polite southern charm that is so sharp I expected blood!
As for the plot it's a convoluted journey with twists that surprise. Best of all a satisfying ending. This book is not an excuse for pages of sex actually there's none but a genuine suspense driven mystery with a paranormal twist. Verity has enough on her plate right now but with her ex wanting to reconnect, her not quite relationship with his brother Ellis Wydell and her penchant for being in the wrong place at the wrong time she has her hands full. I need to go back and start the series from the beginning. I thought this was a lot of fun, had some surprises and the chemistry between Verity and Ellis makes you smile.
Very fun read. Verity Long discovered that she has the ability to see ghosts. But that is not what she wants to do for a living. Verity is an artist and has started a graphic design business. The town is getting ready to celebrate the annual Cannonball in the Wall Festival. The cannonball became lodged in the wall of the library and never exploded. Verity arrives the next morning to help Melody with the catering for the event.
She sees a shoe sticking out from under a table and finds it attached to Darla Grace. Melody received a call from Darla Grace about 3 a. Frankie can give her access to the ghost world at the library. Verity follows the clues to solve the murder. She also uncovers some secrets. One of them will affect the whole town. Someone does not want the information coming out and is willing to kill again. He insists that Verity try to unground him she poured his ashes into her rose bushes and then thoroughly watered them in.
Verity does some research online and attempts to help Frankie. Verity and Ellis Wydell are keeping their new relationship a secret. Ellis does not like Beau getting close to Verity. Soon, though, Verity and Ellis are going to have to make a decision about their relationship. The Skeleton in the Closet is a fun, paranormal mystery. The book is nicely written, fast paced, and provides many laughs. I get frustrated at times with Verity. I do not understand why she will not embrace her paranormal gifts she keeps saying it is not her job. She has a gift and she needs to embrace it.
I hope that the relationship between Ellis and Verity is resolved in the next book adults should not be sneaking around. I give The Skeleton in the Closet 4 out of 5 stars. It does help to read the first book in the series, but it is not absolutely necessary you will understand things better if you do. I received a complimentary copy of The Skeleton in the Closet from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The review and opinions expressed are my own.
