Growing up in Welland, we spent many winter days tobogganing at Chippawa Park, and in the summer playing in the park and having picnics.
While the pool has long gone, there is still a lot of activity there. A great family park. Chippawa park used to be hub of community. It still is but not same as it was. No pool. Not same. They have other things going on but not same. To get away from the busy life plan to walk around Chippewa Park. In season the rose garden is a joy to behold. Sit on the tribute to the founder of Leon's Furniture, feed the goldfish in the small pond or go fishing in the larger one, watch a game of lawn bowling, enjoy a game of volleyball on one of the courts or watch a game of baseball.
Walk around the many open and treed acres of the park and end up by giving a thought to all those that made this possible at the historic war memorial.
