What about Roller Girl worked better in a graphic novel? Jamieson: I decided to create a graphic novel because it seemed more appropriate to the subject matter and to the intended audience. A picture book is only 32 pages long, and I knew I wanted to create a more involved story. The longer format of a graphic novel allowed me to dig deeper and tell a more complete story.
